The award was launched at its first session in 2009 from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. This award, which is the first of its kind in the field of sporting creativity, comes to fill a major sporting gap in how sports creators appreciate what is appropriate for their work, and support efforts aimed at developing and developing the sports sector in various fields and advancing it to global levels. The award was restricted in its first phase to the local and Arab levels and included three main categories in each level: the individual sports creativity category; the group sports creativity category; the institutional sports creativity category.
