The U.S. Embassy in Lomé, Togo, through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), is
pleased to announce an open competition for organizations to submit
applications to carry out a program to promote democratic and political
participation of women and girls for a more stable, inclusive, and prosperous
Togo by strengthening their ability to exercise their rights.
Objective: The objective of this program is to promote
women’s rights and representation in the Togolese economy and politics by
promoting access to identification documents, reducing gender-based violence,
and training women and girls to combat online-harassment.
Main Activities
Potential activities may include but are not
limited to the following:
- Increase access to IDs for
women and girls from deprived areas: Awareness campaigns and workshops to
convince parents and women and girls about the necessity to have
identification and the procedures to follow to acquire it.
- Building women and girls
‘resiliency facing GBV and Human Trafficking: Capacity building and
awareness raising campaigns to promote a better understanding among women
and girls of their rights as guaranteed by Togolese laws and Human rights.
Reduce discrimination regarding land ownership, family heritage, and
widowhood practices. Identify strategies to reduce GBV, susceptibility to
trafficking in persons, and combat the secondary effects and new wave of
fragility created by pandemic lockdown policies to build social and
political inclusion.
- Fighting women’s digital
harassment: Engage a national strategy about the dangers and drawbacks of
online harassment, and how women and girls can protect themselves.
Capacity building for a better understanding and conscious use of social
media for women and girls to mitigate online harassment.
- American Content: Any American
resource, expert, and or reference work or material to show case American
cultures and values.
